Black Scoter 2002 - 2003 Federal Duck Stamp Print by Joe Hautman
The black scoter is a sea duck and one of only three North American scoter species. It is found on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of the United States, but is more rare than either the surf or white-winged scoter. Its diet consists mostly of small fish and various shell fish. The artist, Joseph Hautman, also won the 1992 - 1993 Federal Duck Stamp competition, and his brother Robert won the previous 2001 - 2002 Federal Duck Stamp competition. This signed and numbered print has an actual image size of 6.5" x 9" and a retail price of $204 each which includes the mint stamp. (Click image to see larger picture.)
