Rio Grande turkey 2003 Texas Turkey Stamp Print by Reggie McLeroy
Texas has more Rio Grande gobblers than an other state, and this Rio Grande is "shock gobbling" in response to the thunder resulting from the stunning lightning in the background. Shock gobbling is a mature gobbler's response to any loud sound during breeding season. Biologists say this is due to a turkey's intense desire to ensure that he makes the first response to any nearby hen calls. Reggie McLeroy has also won the 2002 - 2003 Louisiana Duck stamp print contest. This signed and numbered limited edition print has an actual image size of 6.5" x 9" and a retail price of $148 each which includes the mint stamp. (Click image to see larger picture.)
